NAKAMA 2 is the second part of a two-year proficiency-oriented program that emphasizes practical communication and the development of listening, reading, writing, and speaking skills. The eleven thematic chapters, plus one preliminary chapter, focus on high-frequency communication situations; while chapter dialogues illustrate typical daily events representative in Japanese life and provide realistic contexts in which to learn vocabulary and grammar. The program is supported by the iLrn™ Language Learning Center, a dynamic all-in-one diagnostic, tutorial, assessment, assignment, and course management system that saves instructors time and enhances students' language-learning experience.
Updated and expanded cultural content presents profiles of contemporary Japanese lifestyles, illustrated with abundant realistic photos and accompanied by questions that develop cultural awareness.
Revised dialogues, exercises, and vocabulary presentations reflect current cultural practices and social situations typical of students in Japan; Dialogue Phrase Notes provide more detailed explanations for expressions used.
The enhanced and expanded art program features culturally authentic manga-style illustrations that reflect contemporary Japanese culture.
High frequency, streamlined kanji lists encourage the recognition of, and emphasis on, commonly used kanji as a follow-up to their earlier introduction in NAKAMA 1.
New online content provides website resources and activities for instructors and students as well as premium interactive activities.
